This past Sunday my bride Rebecca married her groom Benjamin. Their love story is one that had all of us wedding vendors weak at the knees. The story was so remarkable that it was featured in the New York Times on Sunday the day they married, you can read their story here. Believing in your clients and the love that they share makes the job of designing for a wedding all the more fun!! Rebecca & Benjamin met while climbing Mt. Everest so you will see there is a slight nod to their journey in our wedding details. Many thanks to event planner Kate, from Simply Chic who was remarkable to work with. This wedding was additionally special because of you.

We created a bridal bouquet of white cabbage roses, white ranunculus, dusty miller, queen annes lace, pale yellow stock, white feverfew and the last of the white peonies. The bouquet was wrapped in satin ribbon but we wrapped the satin with twine to soften the look.

Dusty Miller, billy balls, white ranunculus, nigella love in the mist, pale yellow stock, and scabiosa pods were used to create the maids bouquets. All of the bouquets were beyond beautiful!!!

Camping lanterns and mason jars were hung from the top of the sperry tent.

Camping lanterns, blue spruce, river rock, twigs, fern, and some wild flowers were used to decorate the tables. These elements spoke of the journey the couple had made to get to this amazing day. Vintage milk glass vases and old bottles gave the table a feeling of elegance in spite of our earthy elements. We also used mosses, pine cones, and wedges of wood or bark.

The mini Mt. Everest table numbers were one of my favorite details of the day.

This wedding was loaded with amazing inspiration but I want you to see those details when the professional images come in. I can promise you though that the rest of this wedding was perfectly designed and perfectly executed. I know you will enjoy seeing the professional images far more than mine, so it will be worth the wait.

As promised, here are more fabulous images from Christina and Brent’s, Rust Sanctuary wedding.

Mason jars full of orange snapdragons, roses, and spray roses were used to adorn the aisle.

Altar arrangements were created with yellow football mums, free spirit roses, snapdragons, lily, bells of Ireland, solidago, spray roses, and viburnum. More sunshine on a cloudy day!!!

The ladies, so lovely, so elegant…

The dudes, being dudes!!

Pretty impressive, love his suit, tie, and bout!!

Loved this display of jam!!

My vintage milk glass vases added a pop of bright white to the tables.

A yellow and white gingham runner was made for the head table.

Everything was so beautiful, I am totally pleased with the work we did for this wedding.

What a fabulous couple, happy married life Christina and Brent, we loved doing your wedding designs!!!

As promised I am back to share the lovely little details from Katy and Jon Erik’s wedding. The wedding was so much fun for me to design and one of my greatest accomplishments was the guestbook and family photo table. I asked the couple if they had old love letters or a common interest, and they insisted that they had nothing in common and jokingly laughed that they perhaps should not be married. I pressed on: what about hobbies or items from a family member that are sentimental, and finally I hit the jack pot. Jon Erik mentioned that he collected vintage fishing lures and tackle with his father and grandfather and then Katy chimed in that they like to fish together. Bingo, I had it….  The couple even had a scrapbook of their journey together and many of those pages showed them fishing together.

This table was so attractive and alluring (pun intended). Guests actually spent time going through the pictures and because they enjoyed their time at the table, they filled out the guest book. Success.

The little lures were perfect to hang on arrangements, photos and little fishing pails.

We loved this card table.

These vine and moss balls were used to decorate the aisle and smaller moss balls were created to hang in the trees that are growing in the atrium of the Meadowlark Garden.

Our flower girl was beyond precious with her basket and flower halo.

Our centerpieces were a mix of high and low designs.

We chose a lovely linen that was similar to a refined burlap. This was another huge success because I spotted the linen across the warehouse after the sales representative insisted they did not have what we were looking for. The look was perfect for our event. It was so thick it was similar to corduroy and perfect for the fall.

We used sea star fern, roses, dahlias, angel vine, seeded euc, stock, scabiosa pods, berry, fiddle head fern, silver brunia, dusty miller, antiqued hydrangea and green dianthus in these designs. The pieces were created in my barn board boxes.

Next favorite detail, the cake.

Katy did not want a topper on her cake but she did love the idea of a monogram. We made the design with the same bark wire we used to wrap Katy’s bouquet. So beautiful!!!

Happy married life Katy & Jon Erik. We loved doing your wedding flowers, and we really loved you!!

Once again thanks to Genevieve Leiper for her always incredible photos, and to Kelly Cannon of Kelly Cannon Events who provided day of wedding coordination services, and don’t forget to pick up the latest issue of Bride and Groom magazine, we were happy to have two weddings featured in the current issue.  The magazine offers lots of inspiration, eye candy, and is the source for DC’s finest wedding vendors.

Well here it is, many of you followed me on twitter & or the blog just to catch glimpses of the bouquet I would create for Casey. After gathering the flowers from five different sources and then a trip through my garden this is the bouquet that Casey carried down the aisle.  The bouquet was created with peach juliet roses, white ohara roses, coral charm peony, white fesitva maxima peony, pink parfait peony, white majolica spray roses, pink astillibe, scented geranium, white veronica, and viburnum berry. Lambs ear, nandina berry and honeysuckle vine were gathered from my garden to complete the bouquet. You may also notice a blush pink anemone in the bouquet, believe it or not, I used a silk flower. Casey really wanted to carry anemones, fearing they would be out of season, which indeed they were, we purchased the silk anemone when we were in NYC together.

A huge round of applause to photographer Julie Renee. Thank you for sharing your art with us so quickly and kindly, we love getting this little peek into Casey’s wedding. The bad news is that this wedding is just so yummy we will have to keep it under wraps for a while.

Thanks also to designer Debbie who delivered my precious cargo to Casey while I was on the Eastern Shore doing Sarah’s wedding. Brooches, ribbon, and adornment are added to the bridal bouquets just before they go out for delivery.  We had a bag of buttons and trim from Casey’s gown that we were to use to finish Casey’s bouquet. Debbie chose to pop one of those pretty vintage buttons right into the middle of a juliet rose and it was the perfect finishing touch!!!  Thank you one more time Julie Renee it was wonderful to be able to show this bouquet today. I cried when I finally got to see Casey Saturday night, and her reception absolutely had me swooning.  Seeing it through your lens allowed me to be there when Casey got her bouquet!!

I was expecting to see a beautiful space when I arrived to Sarah and Erik’s wedding but what I found, absolutely blew me away. The couple was marrying on a point of land that was completely overlooking the water.  I knew the couple was working with Sperry Tents so I was anticipated something wonderful, but what I found was beyond magical, and perfect for the Eastern Shore. Sperry created a whole village for this event complete with a wedding tent, a cocktail tent, a marque tent, a reception tent, as well as an additional tent for the band and catering staff. Sperry also provided hardwood flooring for the entire reception space and marque tents.  I have seen it all over the last 19 years, but this was beyond breathtaking!!

Once I got my eyes up off of the floor I was mesmerized by the ceiling of the tent…

Hundreds of lanterns had been hung up in the billowing Sperry Tent. Perhaps one of the most lovely things I have ever seen at a event.

Groupings of lawn furniture & lanterns were scattered across the property, allowing guests to have comfortable places to relax and enjoy the view during the cocktail hour.

Sarah and her 10 maids were absolutely stunning.  Luckily for me I got this photograph of Sarah with some of her maids, just think I am missing half of the wedding party in this picture.

Sarah carried white peony, white cabbage roses, alchemillia, white scabiosa, ranunculus, freesia, stock, and green hydrangea. The bouquet was bound with vintage lace and a cameo necklace.

My husband Evan built these wooden planters for Sarah’s wedding. Each box was 2 foot square and held an enormous design that was surrounded by wheat grass. The pieces made quite the entrance into the ceremony.

Inside the reception tent I provided over 100 vintage milk glass vases, each filled to the brim with amazing white and green blooms. We used peony, cabbage roses, ranunculus, stock, hydrangea, phlox, freesia, spray roses, scabiosa, veronica, green hypericum berry, mini green hydrangea, and green alchemillia in the designs.

The head table was designed with 13 different groupings of milk glass, as well as several designs that were made in my silver vintage creamers or sugar bowls. I also designed in my very special tall white milk glass vases. They are part of my private collection and I have never let them go to an event before but I felt like showing off this weekend so I packed them up just as we headed out the door.

This is image shows the tent or space that was created for the band.

Most importantly a huge round of applause should go to the girls of Bellafare. They completely designed, and executed this wedding with amazing style and attention to detail. Working with these NYC city girls was a total pleasure. It was months of hard work that came to a beautiful and amazing end. Thanks also to Federal City Catering, Charlotte Jenks Lewis Photography ( I can’t wait to see her images), Party Rentals, wedding cake by One Sweet Bite,  and stationery by Sue Coe Designs.

I have two more fabulous weddings to share with you. We had one heck of an amazing weekend last weekend and I have designers buzz!!!

Chris & Danny married at the Omni Shoram this past April. Photographer Lotus Ryan captured the day and has shared these beautiful images with us. Thanks to Lotus you will get to see this lovely wedding.

The bridal bouquet was created with white and orange ranunculus, mini green hydrangea, white “patience”cabbage roses, seeded euc, and gold combo roses. The combo roses matched the sash of Chris’s dress perfectly.

The grooms bout was of orange roses, and ranunculus buds with green berry.

Maids wore green gowns and carried a mix of the days flowers.

A arrangement was created for the place card table in vintage suitcases. This went perfectly with the seating cards.

Low centerpieces were created in glass vases that had been decoupaged with paper that looked like vintage maps. This was so beautiful.

The elevated designs were raised on my glass stands and they looked so stunning in the ballroom.

This was a gorgeous wedding. Happy married life Chris and Danny, thank you for allowing me to design for your big day!!

Providing the flowers for Marie and Victor just a few weekends ago was a true highlight of the season. Groom Victor is the twin brother to my friend and event designer Vicki Grafton of my Simple Details, I love the Sunset Room at the National Harbor, I loved the bride and her mom, and I was thrilled to be working with photographer Abby Jiu. This wedding was awesome!!!!

The wedding day started like this… I was working at my computer when I noticed out the window that the most amazing pink tree peonies had bloomed overnight. I was about to design a beautiful calla lily bouquet for bride Maria but I just could not resist bringing her the peonies as well. So yes I brought Maria not one, but two bridal bouquets. Brides remember this, when you have an excellent photographer hired for the day, your vendors often delight in doing extra…. I knew I would get rocking pictures of both bouquets and I knew it would be fun.  The above picture is Marie receiving her second bridal bouquet.

Maria’s real bouquet was created with Picasso calla lily, lily grass, and great grandmothers cameo. I also personally cut MOB’s dress so that her lace could be wrapped around  the bouquet.

The wedding took place on the pier at the National Harbor.

The bride arrived to the ceremony in a vintage Studebaker.

The couple met in Bali, at sister Vicki’s wedding. Some of the designs including the place card area had a slight nod to Bali. Using the callas, and orchids was a must for this bride.

The tables featured 3 different designs. Bright colored orchids, hydrangea, roses, stock, peony, and viburnum were used to create all of the pieces.

This was a wonderful wedding with wonderful people and I totally love the images from the wonderful and totally amazing Abby Jiu.

Last May I provided the flowers for kristin & Jeff’s wedding at the Thomas Birkby House. At the time I blogged my images but I have never gotten to share with you the extraordinary photographs that were captured that day by photographer Michelle Lindsay. This wedding is so special to me, I fell in love with Kristin and her wedding. This was also one of the first weddings that I officially took on responsibilities as a stylist. I am still in contact with Kristin and she continues to be a wonderful friend and a fabulous wedding industry partner. Just a few short months after her wedding she opened LilyPad Weddings which is a personalized paper company that she started with her sister.

Her amazing bridal bouquet was created with orange everything… pin cushions, freesia, tulips, roses, spray roses, callas, and crocosmia. My favorite detail about the bouquet were two little matching brooches that happened to be from two different grandmothers and yet they were a perfect match.

Could they be any more perfect?

My lovely bouquets!!

All paper products were designed by Kristin and her sister Jen at LilyPad Weddings.

The wedding had a fabulous travel theme, the couple loves to travel and many of their guests came from abroad, readings at the ceremony were done in several different languages. I gathered vintage props at local antique stores and laid out these perfectly styled spaces.

Maids wore teal blue dresses. Leaving us to know for certain that the teal blue vintage mason jars could not be denied.

I used three mason jars tied together with twine to create a centerpiece that was substantial. One mason jar simply won’t cut it when you want a full arrangement. I loved the way this turned out…

Maps and vintage suitcases were used to style the buffet and head table.

This was an incredible Loudoun Wedding and one that I am very proud of.  Thank you Michelle for sharing your photographs with us. The images from this wedding are simply stunning.

Ah, the memories… Thanks so much for this incredible look back at our big day, Holly!

I still dream about all of our gorgeous HCF flowers, which far surpassed my already high expectations! I think the saddest part of the whole experience was having to leave my still beautiful bouquet behind when we departed for our honeymoon. 🙂

Thanks again for going the extra mile to make it such a special and lovely day – we were so lucky to find you!

Brittany married this past weekend on her family farm. We provided the flowers, the event design, and we planned the wedding. Britt is a true farm girl and she loves her truck so she chose to arrive at the ceremony on the back of her pick up truck.  Perfect!!!!

Britt’s father designed and built this amazing ceremony site for the wedding. The view was breathtaking.

The children of the family all had a part in the wedding, even this sweet baby girl.

Because the property was so large we had a huge field for the ceremony, a separate field for the reception area, and our cocktail hour was stationed along an old stone wall.

An underlying theme behind the day was strawberries. I dug up several of my fathers strawberry plants and these were hung over the limb of a huge tree to help decorate the cocktail area.

This area also featured a fabulous strawberry lemonade stand, old shutters to hold the place cards, and a fun quilted space for the gifts.

The family played a huge part in the styling of this wedding, our bride knew she wanted black chairs and black napkins. The mother of the bride loved our vintage scales so we began with those concepts and built everything else from there. We pulled antiques and vintage inventory from our studio and we were also allowed to pull some great props from the family.

The head table featured elevated arrangements on black candlesticks, old scales, and lots of sweet little designs in glass bottles or tin urns.

Our barn board boxes were used for half of the tables.

The scales were used on the rest of the centerpieces.

I was crazy in love with these doilies the family found for grandmas jam, so we suggested these be used on jam jars to create votives.

Grandma made strawberry jam for all of the guests and the family had this adorable sign made for grandma’s kitchen which was given to grandma after the wedding.

Large arrangements were created for the buffets, bars, and dessert stations.

We also laid out this wonderful dessert table that featured chocolate covered strawberries, strawberries and whipped cream, strawberry pies from my daddies store in Lucketts, Heiders Country Store, and of course wedding cake.

From dinner to dancing, we managed this whole night and we are totally proud of this “Holly Styled Wedding”.

We have a strawberry themed farm wedding tomorrow and I literally dug up some of my fathers strawberry plants to create these cute little designs for some of our stations. Thankfully daddy is to busy being a farmer to care or know about the Internet, blogs, and social media, so please don’t tell him I stole his strawberry plants.

Thankfully he did have time to bake us some of his famous pie, which we are happily delivering to the wedding. Strawberry of course!!! My dad owns Heider’s Farm Market and his pie is outrageous!!!

These sweet little designs will hang on shepherds hooks going down the aisle.

This large piece is for the buffet and it will be displayed on an old vintage box.

We will also be providing some seriously amazing hot pink peony designs tomorrow.

This wedding is truly lovely, bright, happy, and so beautiful. We will pair these designs with my silver and crystal stands and it will create a bold, and dramatic look.

We even have a few tropical designs “in the cooler,” these are headed to a wedding at Landsdowne Resort. This was one heck of a busy day and there are lots of stories to tell, but I am headed to bed we have a huge day ahead of us.
