This wedding will always be beyond special to me because I proved to myself just how committed I am to my clients and colleagues. My mother passed away the day before this wedding. Because I didn’t want my client or the planner to worry moved forward producing the wedding without mentioning telling anyone what I was facing. You might think I look at these images and feel anguish but instead, I see blooms that carried me through the hardest weekend of my life. This wedding was, in all honesty, one of the most beautiful weddings of the season and it will always evoke incredible memories. Hours before my mother went to the hospital, I was in the garden harvesting for my bride. I gathered fresh peonies and the daintiest pink jasmine straight from my gardens at Hope Flower Farm. The jasmine had been planted for many years and had never chosen to bloom. As I harvested the stems I shared stories about my parents with a visiting designer. We were celebrating our heritage and the lovely miracles we were finding. So many emotional and sentimental moments were happening even before the loss would begin. This was the weekend I learned that I am stronger than I think. I also was reminded and reassured that this is my life’s work, my flowers bring me joy in the hardest of situations. Flowers included, white and blush peonies, pink jasmine, white spirea, blush ranunculus, white tweedia, pink nerine lily. astrantia, hydrangea, snapdragons, roses, spray roses, larkspur, and lush greens.
Planning and Design Stephanie Economides from Evoke. BTW Stephanie was absolutely incredible. She somehow got the word that my mom had passed and sent meals for my family and the team of designers. I will forever be grateful to this extraordinary planner. Venue Ritz Carlton DC, gorgeous photos Lisa Ziesing for Abby Jiu.
