Evergreens have been arriving at our studio since the day before Thanksgiving. Luckily for us we also harvest fabulous evergreens from our property as well. Today we did a beautiful holiday installation at the new Willowsford Community here in Loudoun County. We started with two designs for the entry of the tenant house, which acts as the greeting center for this new community. The first design was created in a tall iron basket and featured ilex berry, branches, pine cones, pods, magnolia, cedar, white pine, and blue juniper.

The second design was created with the same evergreens but beautiful green hedgeapples or osage oranges were used to make this design special. These chartreuse green balls are one of my favorite elements to design with during the holidays. The apples were gathered this weekend while I was hiking with the family with my new trekking poles. One other fun fact about these unique and alien like fruits, is that they have a magnificent fragrance. I love them!!

This lovely wreath was created for the office door. All natural elements like wheat, pheasant feathers, mini apples, and pepperberry were used to make this warm and inviting design.

A simple cedar garland was hung over the fireplace not to detract from the wood carving that was designed for Willowsford.

Small designs were created for the coffee tables and end tables throughout the house.

This very large centerpiece was one of our main focal points, this particular house will not be getting a tree, so we needed to have a few big statement pieces. When we design for the holidays we try to make arrangements that will last through the season. The absence of fresh flowers and the use of evergreens extends the life of the designs.

We created two large arrangements for the top of the entertainment center and also two fabulous boxwood topiary’s.

The little boxwood trees were so beautiful. I used pepperberry, pods from my persimmon tree, small pine cones, ribbon, wheat, and miniature apples to create these pieces.

This is a closeup picture of the mini topiary. The tiny four leafed brown pod is from my persimmon. I just love these tiny wooden flowers. This year the tree lost all of its fruit but the lovely little pods were left on the tree.

We also provided this amazing magnolia garland. It may have been the nicest garland I have ever seen.

We even decorated the windows, as you can see this was a wonderful holiday project. I loved designing this event!! Happy Holidays!!
