I made it to the garden to gather these lovely flowers this morning just before it rained. I had hoped to do a mini shoot in the yard today with all of my new lovely antiques. I have so many new and wonderful things that my mind is buzzing and I am dying to create.  This old blue vase is a McCoy and I have a fabulous and growing collection of these. They range in all different colors and shapes, they even made cookie jars. Have you ever heard the saying “its the real McCoy?” All real McCoy’s are labeled with the word McCoy USA on the bottom of the pot. During the 50’s other potters tried to duplicate the look of the McCoy and if the pot is not labeled McCoy USA it’s not the real deal.

For fun here is a different type of flower arrangement. We have been growing fresh tomatoes, basil, and nasturtium this season. The dish began by layering the plate with our tomatoes, and basil, I also used purple onions, and then a layer of fresh mozzarella. To make the design pretty I topped it off with orange and yellow nasturtiums. Nasturtiums are an edible flower, I love them because they have a bit of a bite. Adding these pretty blossoms to summer salads is similar to adding a sprinkle of pepper. This was a flower arrangement the whole family enjoyed.
