Evan and I have arrived safely in Moscow. Everything is wonderful here and we are so happy to be with our friends. I am once again blown away by the miracles in my life. Over the years I have stayed up late at night writing a post for this blog. Many times I wondered if the time I was investing in the blog was worth the time I was spending on it. I found out on this trip that one of those late night blog posts was read by a young soon to be bride in Moscow, that bride was Olga. At the time, Olga was searching the internet for inspiring bridal bouquets for her own wedding. She found inspiration in my designs. After her marriage the love of beautiful flowers set her on a path to start a floral design business. Olga wanted to bring my type of floral design to Moscow. I guess we could say she has really done that!!! Several years ago Olga and her husband Yuriy came to my house just as she was beginning her career as a florist. Over the last two years they built their wedding floral design business and they host floral design workshops. Because of Olga and Yuriy, I am in Moscow and I will be teaching here. This is all so hard to believe!! Next, I met Nikki, Nikki is an American designer living in Russia. I asked Nikki how she found the Flower Bazar, which is Olga and Yuriy’s flower business. Nikki replied that she was moving to Moscow so she searched wedding flowers in Moscow, and the blog post I wrote about Olga and Yuriy was found. She in turn, reached out to the Flower Bazar and began working with them when she arrived in Moscow. I guess its clear all of those latee night blog posts seriously worked. It’s 2 a.m. in the morning so I will try to do the rest of this post fairly quickly, just know that I am honored, touched, and inspired. I am so proud of Olga and Yuriy and I love being here with them in Moscow.
Evan and I were greeted at the airport by the Flower Bazar girls. You can see more of our arrival images on the Flower Bazar blog.
As you can see Evan and Yuriy are getting along perfectly. This was a huge blessing because the girls and I needed to spend time picking flowers, linen, and supplies.
This was a new to me mechanic. Have any of my designer friends seen these pins? They are used for bouts and corsages. In my 21 years of floristry, I have never seen these corsages pins.
Wax roses, can you hear me gagging?
Dyed rainbow roses started the snickering!!! These floral options may be an indication of why they wanted my help.
After the shopping we went to the flower studio and opened a few presents.
Lomey trays, ribbon, wire, tape, pipe cleaners. Not your normal presents, but for florists in Russia it was perfect!!!
The elevators are the size of a refrigerator. This was on the way to get fabric.
After a successful day of buying we made it to Red Square. Oddly enough it is incredibly warm here right now and everyone is in shock, myself included.
Today was awesome!!!!
