This next wedding is one that’s sure to rock your socks. When a event florals daughter gets married, it is huge! KC is the daughter of Trish Van de Merkt owner of Grapevine Floral Company in Lake in the Hills, Illinois. KC at the time performed belly dance and fire dancing as her profession and was asked to perform for the Rialto Square Theater‘s 80th anniversary celebration. After the performance Trish looked around the beautiful space and wondered if they did weddings.
KC had met her Louie not long before the performance and while starting their clothing design company Mended Mosaic they made multiple trips to Bali and it was there on a cliffside in Uluwatu that he proposed. He even called her mom and dad from there to make sure it was okay!
Needless to say, the Rialto does do weddings and the rest of the planning process was so exciting. Trish even was the seamstress for her daughter’s 8 bridesmaid dresses! September 19, 2009 was a magical day. They were married on the stage, of course, with cocktails following in the rotunda. After coctails the guest were guided back to the theater for a performance by fire dancers, stationary trapeze artists, and a guitarist. Dinner followed in the Esplanade which was modeled after the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles. It was the perfect surrounding for a perfect couple.
The wonderful Aaron Willcox Photography out of Encinitas captured it all!
Trish is another one of our Chapel Designers who is coming with us this year to New York. If you haven’t purchased your ticket – hurry! (Hint: see the sidebar to purchase.) Seats don’t stay vacant for long when you’re in the company of Tara Guérard and Matthew Robbins.
