I am feeling a huge amount of sadness watching the last of my peonies crumble to the ground. I can't believe we are leaving Spring and moving into Summer. This time of year is always a little bitter sweet for me, I am rich, rich, rich, in Spring time blooming blossoms and I hate loosing them. My kids also become one year older as we end one school year and approach the next. Painful…
I have decided to combat that pain this year by growing more annuals and being grateful for the many blossoms my property produces. Even as we move into Summer my garden is a bounty and I better be thankful. Look what is blooming in my garden.
I am going to be loaded in Hydrangea this year. This is a huge blessing, last year the deer ate almost every stem.
I can thank Designer Sadie for the fabulous deer patrol.
I got Sadie for the kids for Christmas. The goal and the hope was always for our new dog to keep the deer out of my garden. It is working rather well and my gardens are busting, but we did not factor in how hard it would be to have a dog in the shop. Sadie is very nosy, and she is slick. The minute the door opens she zooms in like a torpedo. She has taken to tortilla shells, and it is one of the few ways we can get her out of the house. She likes to be right in the middle of all of the activity.
We have planted hundreds of sunflowers and zinnias. Next week we will be planting established plants and we are on a major roll. My son Alex will be home on Friday from Europe and he is going to be my gardener.
I am off to Abby's senior year awards ceremony. Abby leaves for college in August. Yep… we are changing seasons. I an not gonna cry, I an not gonna cry, new stuff is around the bend.
I love the Sadie pictures! She’s quite the stinker!
