When it comes to red, white and blue themed weddings I think the best thing to do is, go with the Offspring song " You Gotta Keep 'Em Separated."    Red, white and blue together in one design tends to look a little to cliche.  To keep everything elegant and sophisticated keep your designs monochromatic. This way you will still have your very patriotic theme without loosing the elegance.
