Yesterday we had the pleasure of providing the flowers for the Spring Luncheon that benefits Loudoun Interfaith Relief. I have been the flower sponsor for this event for several years. The luncheon is sponsored by Lightfoot Restaurant and is hosted by owners and sisters, Carrie and Ingrid. It is tempting during difficult times, to not be as generous of our time, resources and money. The reality though is that we need to be more generous and thoughtful of others than ever before. Loudoun Interfaith Relief provides emergency food and assistance to Loudoun County residents in need. Last year they provided nutritious groceries to over 40,000 men, women and children. That number will greatly increase this year due to the economy.
I hope you will consider what you can do to help your community. Some of us are incredibly blessed and it is our responsibility to not only help others, but to teach our children to do the same.
For my brides, a incredibly kind gesture is to forgo party favors and make a donation to a charity in need. Right now food banks are reporting the lowest donations on record and the highest need ever. Remember there are lots of ways to help, just volunteering to sort food you can make a huge difference. We all have personal resources, strengths and abilities nothing feels better than to give of ourselves. I hope you will consider helping.
